Founded in 1960 and based in Morgan City, LA the Marine/Oil and Gas Center is a training center for the maritime industry.  The Marine Department was formerly located on a donated ship that was tied to the Front Street docs in Morgan City, but as the oil industry changed, the Department changed along with it.  In 1972, the Department moved to the Young Memorial Campus, and since then has stepped forward and established itself as a premier center for maritime training.

In 2005, the Center moved part of its training structure to a new site at 3225 Youngs Road, where they offer water-front access for training.  The new site includes a hydraulic crane, GMDSS lab, a flashover fire trainer, and a state-of-the-art radar simulation lab.
