The Resolve Maritime Academy, with a Simulation Training Center located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has just completed the installation of a state-of-the-art Transas Engine Room Simulator platform – the ERS 5000 TechSim.
The TechSim gives Resolve Academy the ability to expand its course selections to engineers in every sector of the maritime industry – including the tanker, offshore, and cruise sectors.
The simulator is linked to the Academy’s full mission bridge simulator, which allows integrated training for several courses. Says David Boldt, the Simulation Training Group Manager, “Connecting the simulators means we can offer Resource Management and Integrated Systems training to our clients.”
Rosemary Mackay, an engineer with nine years of experience in educating mariners, as well as 12 years of experience at sea, will manage the ERS 5000 TechSim. Previously, she instructed classes at the Star Center Engineering Department, and was highly involved with course development and design.
The Transas ERS complies with all STCW code requirements, and the scope of training objectives are in line with the specifications of standard competence for engine department employees. The use of simulators is provided for training engineers and for engineering instruction for management, operational, and support personnel.
Resolve Maritime Academy is the training sector of Resolve Marine Group. The academy specializes in Shipboard Fire and Safety, Bridge Navigational, and General Safety courses. They offer a wide range of courses that apply to offshore vessel, tanker, private yacht, and cruise line personnel and crew. To date, the Resolve Maritime Academy has trained over 20,000 mariners.
