The Marine Training Institute, newly opened near Houma, Louisiana, is North America’s only Furuno ECDIS-certified training facility. The Institute is a place where mariners can master the operations of vessel technology by using simulators that apply real-life skills to the real-world challenges and experiences of the marine environment.
The Marine Training Institute offers a variety of courses that are required for certification, in addition to training for operation and maintenance of navigation systems and vessel control. The Institute provides hands-on DP training with the use of the cutting-edge Beier IVCS 4000 Dynamic Positioning System.
Accredited by the Nautical Institute in London for standards of excellence in training maritime professionals in the principles of operating a DP system in a working environment, the Institute’s facility utilizes fully-computerized simulators to allow mariners the most realistic training experience possible.
The Institute’s program offers both the basic and induction courses, as well as an advanced/simulator course, all at their central location, which is conveniently located near the ports of the Gulf of Mexico in South Louisiana.
